The fine print, in plain English.
The journal is offered as personal photographic work, free of charge, with no commercial purpose. By reading the essays, you accept the terms below.
Effective from 2 May 2026.
1. Editorial nature
All material published on egg-museum.lat — photographs, essays, captions, and editorial notes — is offered as the personal work of Layla Sayed. It is not paid promotion, it is not sponsored, and no museum, ministry, or commercial body has approved or commissioned the work. Readers are invited to verify factual claims with the institutions concerned.
2. No commercial offer
This site does not sell anything. It does not offer entry to any museum, it does not arrange visits or photographic tours, it does not act as an intermediary between any reader and any institution, and — for the avoidance of doubt — it does not sell photographic prints. Print enquiries are referred to the representing gallery and are not handled through this journal. References to museums, exhibitions, opening hours, or routes are descriptive and not transactional.
3. Copyright
The photographs and text on this site are the copyright of Layla Sayed unless otherwise stated. The display-resolution images on the site are made available for personal viewing only. Reproduction (in any medium) requires written permission. Quotations of up to three hundred (300) words from the text essays are permitted under fair-dealing for review or scholarly purposes provided the source is named. For longer quotations, photo licensing, translations, or any reproduction in print, please write to [email protected].
4. Trademarks and named institutions
Names of museums, sites, exhibitions, and institutions are used for descriptive purposes only. Their use does not imply any partnership, endorsement, or affiliation.
5. Accuracy and corrections
The editor takes care to be accurate, but museums change and attributions are sometimes revised. The site cannot guarantee that any practical or attributive detail is current at the moment of reading. Corrections are welcomed at [email protected] and are usually made within a fortnight, with a small note at the foot of the corrected essay.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Egyptian law, the editor accepts no liability for any decision a reader takes on the basis of material published on this site, including travel decisions, scheduling decisions, or interpretive decisions. The reader uses the site at their own discretion and should always verify operationally important information with the institution concerned.
7. Letters from readers
If you write to the editorial address, you grant a non-exclusive licence to quote, edit, and publish the substance of your letter — anonymously by default — in subsequent issues of the journal. If you do not wish your letter to be quoted, please mark it "not for publication" and the editor will respect that.
8. Linking and reproduction
Linking to any page of this site is welcome. Framing the site, scraping it for training data without permission, downloading display-resolution images for reuse, or republishing essays in full on other sites is not permitted.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Any dispute arising from or connected with this site or its content shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Cairo, Egypt. For European readers, this clause does not affect mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under your local law.
10. Contact
For any question about these terms, please write to [email protected].
